Early Telephone Circuit Card (GO 26.), ex Shotts Signal Box on the Caledonian Railway route out of Glasgow towards Edinburgh. There are 22 locations listed from Glasgow Central Freight Plant through Newton, Mossend, Uddingston, Bellshill, Fullwood, Holytown, Bellside, Benhar, Ravenscraig and Milnwood. In original glazed wooden frame, quite possibly Caledonian Railway but not marked.

Southern Railway Carriage Print advertising their Hotel & Restaurant Services. Sunshine lettering heading in green, the left side advertises the hotels of London, Charing Cross, Grosvenor and Craven. The right hand side advertises hotels in the Provinces, South Western, London & Paris, Lord warden and Imperial. The centre section shows the Tariff for Breakfast Luncheon and Dinner. Good overall condition with some wrinkling. Framed and glazed in an original type frame.

Poster, British Railways D/R Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire Tranquil scene of a couple of small row boats on the river beside an old malt house and a few cottages. From a painting by Edward Wessom. Published by British Railways Eastern Region ref no. PP1165 and printed by Jordison Ltd., London & Middlesborough. Some edge creasing and a 2 square piece missing from bottom right corner. This has take off the 'UGH' of the word Middlesborough so doesn't really detract.

The inside page is personally signed by Felix Pole and reads: To A. Bond with best wishes from Felix JC Pole'. A very rare book and even more desirable with this inscription.

GWR C/I Signalbox Board DAINTON TUNNEL SIGNAL BOX. Measures 101 x 9 and is totally ex signalboc with chocolate and cream colouring. Situated just outside the tunnel on the most famous of all Devon Banks, witness to the most magnificent of GWR locos through the railway age. Arguably one of the most evocative of locations on the entire GWR system.

Single Line Tablet BENTLEY - BORDON No. 6, fibre construction in original leather pouch with hoop. Ex LSWR (Bentley & Bordon Railway) section in Hampshire being the small branch off the Alton to Guildford line. The leather pouch is clearly impressed 'Tyer & Co., Dalston, London' and under the flap it is date impressed twice, once with 7 59 and then 12 61. Strap broken but present, otherwise in excellent condition.

British Rail speed record holder - 129mph, c1973-1976. Named in December 1978, withdrawn 2003 Easco, Immingham Railfreight Terminal. Totally ex loco condition.

BR(E) 8 Inch Oak cased clock No 13645 with a Smiths Empire 7 day movement, the clock is in working condition and originates from Lowestoft Civil Engineer Harbour Works Concrete Depot which was closed in 1996, together with a LNER Enamel Look Out armband complete with its leather Strap retreived from the same location.

BR(S) Station Running In Board WADEBRIDGE. A lovely sign that was once fitted into a frame on the station (photograph accompanies). It is in two halves, the first is 54 x 10 and the second is 61 x 10 so very manageable. Lovely dark green with deep shine and minimal damage. A very rare sign, very little turns up from this Cornish station and a totem would entail a re-mortgage.

Lynton & Barnstaple Railway Locomotive/Tail Lamp manufactured by Polkey. Another lamp from this railway that has some, but not total provenance. Reputedly, it belonged to the widow of a former employee who purchased it a a sale either at Barnstaple or Pilton when the L&B closed in 1935. Looking at the accompanying photograph taken on the final day, the Bunker lamp looks very similar although not identical. It is known that a number of different lamps were used by the L&B and the locos indeed carried a variety of different types as spares. The lamp is bereft of paint and has the number 30 on both sides. The brass makers plate is also on one side and the original reservoir and burner is in situ.

Cabside Numberplate 9754 C/I construction. Ex GWR 0-6-0PT built Swindon June 1935 and allocated new to Old Oak Common. Remaining there for the majority of its working life, it wandered to St Philips Marsh in the early 1960's, then Westbury and withdrawal came from Yeovil in June 1965.

Lynton & Barnstaple Railway Steel & Brass Tyers Signalling Tablet WOODA BAY - LYNTON number 2. Once the property of the chief accountant at Eastleigh, it was sent, along with others, to Eastleigh upon closure of the L&BR in 1935 and put to use as a paperweight. Excellent condition.

GWR Enamel Lamp Tablet MARAZION. A truly incredible survivor from this little station, one stop out of Penzance at one of the top 10 bays in the entire world overlooking St. Michaels Mount. Opened 11th March 1852 by the West Cornwall Railway. Absorbed fully into the GWR on 1 January 1877 and closed to passengers 5 Oct 1964, with freight services following on 6 Dec 1965.The strange name derives from the important fairs and markets that were held in the town, the earliest dating back to 1070. The names of the two biggest markets - Marghas Byghan (Small Market) and Marghas Yow or Jew (Thursday Market) blurred over time to become 'Marazion'. Measuring 18 x 5 and was originally mounted in a frame.There is edge chipping but the cobalt blue lettering on off white background is excellent apart from a few chips impinging the 'W' and 'L'. Smokebox Numberplate 73112. Ex British Railways Standard Locomotive built Doncastre in October 1955 and allocated to the Southern Region. A nine Elms locomotive throughout, it was named MORGAN LE FAY in April 1960, a name formerly carried by N15 30750. The loco was scrapped in June 1965 by Wards. Clean ex loco, signs of a BR stress weld on the back rim. First time at auction.

Original Watercolour Painting by Frank H. Mason depicting the panoramic view of Whitby and beyond to Sandsend. This was the very painting used for the famous LNER 'East Coast' Poster and this painting is annotated such. Measures 28 x 20 in its frame and shows the vibrancy of his work around this era. Note: Frank H. Mason (b. 1876; d.1965) Born in Durham in Yorkshire, Frank Mason began his career at sea, educated as a cadet on HMS Conway. Having served in the Royal Navy in the First World War, Mason became a war artist, several such paintings can be seen at the Imperial War Museum. Between the wars he became a full-time artist, working as an illustrator, a poster artist for railway companies, and supplying posters and postcards for shipping companies. From 1900 onwards he exhibited at the RA, and was awarded RI in 1929.

GWR Scroll for the Funeral Of Her Late Most Gracious Majesty The Queen, Arrangements Of Royal Train, Paddington to Windsor, 1.32pm Saturday 2nd Feb 1901. An absolutely stunning item with the complete train including the locomotive positioned across the page as a guide to a table beneath announcing the individuals in each carriage and the loco crew. Ornate, coloured border with the royal crests in each of the top corners. Printed by Waterlow & Sons, it is in the original, gilded frame bearing a label on the rear stating that it is the private property of E. Ford. This gentleman was the Chief Goods Manager of the GWR from Feb 1924 until Mar 1931 and the item hung in his Paddington Office. The vendors Grandfather was Goods Manager at Paddington and acquired the item during his career. Excellent condition with just the slightest hint of foxing top centre. The frame has lost some gilding which detracts little for such an historic survivor.

This print from the original 1973 painting, is the comical representation of the locomotive Earl De Catnip and staff at the railway. Lynton & Barnstaple Railway Steel and Brass Single Line Tablet CHELFHAM - BLACKMOOR number 5. The railway was opened in May 1898 and the tablets for this particular section were rather late additions being introduced around 1931 when the section was produced by the Bratton Fleming Loop being removed. Running powers handed to the Southern Railway in July 1923, closure coming just 12 years later in 1935.

Nameplate ASTLEY HALL. Ex GWR Hall Class Locomotive numbered 4903 built Swindon in December 1928 and allocated new to Penzance. Moved to Oxford before nationalisation and remained there right up until the early 1960's. Short spells at Taunton, Reading and Oxley saw the final destination of Worcester from where withdrawal took place in October 1964. A wonderful, early plate with original splasher paint and No 3 stamped in rear along with Swindon and the Lot No., this was before Swindon actually stamped the Hall number. The Vendor was 14 years of age when his Father, a railway employee, acquired the plate and gave it to him as a gift. Note: Astley Hall is near Stourport-on-Severn and was the birthplace of three times Prime Minister Stanley Baldwin.

Totem, BR(NE) BERWICK UPON TWEED F/F. Arguably one of the most evocative of tangerine totems and certainly the most Northerly, this is only the second one known to have survived and was acquired by the vendor in the mid 1960's when the station was being resigned, this example is in excellent condition with full gloss and a couple of expertly repaired face chips it also benefits from being of the dark tangerine variety with black edged letters. The only one to be previously sold was over 9 years ago so don't miss this rare opportunity for a quite stunning NE Totem.

The Southern Railway clock records show that this clock was originally located at London Bridge Station and was later moved to the Chief Accountants office at Brighton . Tizer Advertising Calendar for 1958 with a colourful artist (Henry Neil) impression of the Falcon Hotel, Stratford-on-Avon. Some marks on the calendar below. Cabside Numberplate 9755. Ex GWR 0-6-0 Pannier Tank, built Swindon in June 1935 and allocated new to Southall where it remained until the early 1950's whereupon the call of Cornwall saw allocation to St. Blazey. Remaining here for a decade, it trundled back to Paddington to work out its final years. Withdrawal took place in May 1963. Cast iron construction, face only restored.

NER or possibly earlier Oak cased drop dial fusee clock No 4991, this early clock supplied by Potts and Sons of Leeds dates from around 1866 and was possibly originally supplied to the York and North Midland Rly, upon close inspection of the dial a fairly indistinct marking appears below the BR lettering and below this Railway Co can be clearly seen . The fusee movement is of substantial proportions and is in working condition. The LNER clock records show this clock being located at Micklefield Booking office and platform and due to the movement having a slave drive, subsequently removed I doubt if it ever left it's original location.

Cast Alluminium Headboard GREAT WESTERN LIMITED GWR 150 1835-1985, this headboard was carried on the special train which ran on Sunday 7th April 1985 from Paddington to Plymouth and return to celebrate the GWR 150, the train was hauled by King George V and Hinton Manor, and after the trains return the Headboard was raffled off, included with this lot are the Vendors Ticket, a brochure on the itineary an the winning raffle ticket No 560. These all compliment the provenance of this interesting Headboard.

Totem BR (M) COALVILLE TOWN, H/F. Ex Midland Railway station between Leicester and Burton. A rare Leicestershire sign from the former Midland Railway line between Leicester and Ashby-de-la-Zouch closed in 1964, the totem is in very good condition with a few minor chips that could be easily repaired and has a good colour and shine. Last available at auction 14 years ago.

GWR brass collar Handlamps, a nice pair comprising a 4 aspect Fogging Lamp and a normal 3 aspect Guards Handlamp. The 3 aspect is excellent, stamped with company initials and bearing a Polkey brass plate. The burner is stamped 'BR/WR'. The 4 aspect, also excellent has a soldered plate numbered 1393 and an original GWR stamped burner. Both recovered from Redditch.

British Railways Western Region Gauge Glass Lamp embossed 'BR(W) on curved top. One side has a blue glass, the other red. The front glass is clear of course. Together with an unidentified, square lamp with clear glass to the front and red glass to one side. No markings at all and may not be railway but comes complete with a small reservoir having an integral burner.

North British Railway brass Cash Bag Plate engraved 'N.B.R. SCOTLAND St Stn'. Ex NBR branch line station between Piershill and Granton East. Scotland Street station has an interesting history. Originally the Edinburgh, Leith & Newhaven Railway, later the Edinburgh, Leith and Granton Railway, was the original southern terminus of the line within Edinburgh. The line was later extended southwards to Canal Street (by today's Waverley station). Trains were hauled along the tunnel to Canal Street by cable. It closed on the 6th November 1967. Together with North British Railway brass Cash Bag Plate engraved 'N.B.R. PENICUICK STATION' . The station, which closed on the 10th September 1951, was situated at the end of the branch from Hawthornden & Rosewell south of Edinburgh.

Promoting Popular Char-A-Banc Tours, the first dated June 9th - June 12th 1912 advertises trips to Weston Birt House, Birdlip & Cranham Woods, Ledbury & Ros-On-Wye, Chedworth Woods via Withington and Stroud for Agricultural Show. The third, with images of the Torpedo Char-A-Banc and a similar, open version includes trips to Fosse Bridge, Broadway & Evesham, Bredon & Tewkesbury, Berkeley Castle, Malvern and Cirencester. Some los to all, the third being by far the best. Interestingly, the printers, Shenton Cheltenham has their telephone number listed as '999

Enamel Advertising Sign, 'Spillers Dog & Puppy Foods'. Double sided with wall fixing flange. Deep maroon colour with black lined, off white lettering. Measures 16 x 14 and has the Makers name along the bottom 'Cooper Bond (Midland) Ltd Birmingham. A rare sign from this company who were only in business from 1884 until 1914. Very good condition overall with only minor loss.
